Why Medical Records Analysis?

Medical record review involves a detailed analysis of the medical records of a patient, which may include physician/nursing notes, diagnostic tests (lab tests, ECG, X-ray and other imaging tests), ambulance call reports, correspondence between health professionals, printouts from monitoring equipment, and computerized databases. Medical record reviews are required for medical and legal purposes.

Very few claims handlers or investigators understand the complex medical jargon and health care requirements of patients. This results in a demand for medical records analysts (MRAs) who can explain the complicated health matters to those in the legal and insurance profession.

With an increased focus on Treating the Customer Fairly and compliance with FAIS legislation, there is a demand for expert opinion that not only relies on sound medical knowledge but an extensive understanding of the insurance industry.
